| Windco is recognized as a complete flag and flagpole company, supplying flags, flagpoles, banners, commercial windsocks, and meteorological instruments to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador since 1989. We have the largest inventory of flags, flagpoles and flagpole hardware in the province. We install and service our products within the metro area of St. John's, NF but we will ship most of our products to anywhere in the World. |
 The owner/operator Mr. Marvin Willis, a retired meteorologist, started this business while he was full-time
employed. Since his retirement in 1997 he has devoted all his energy to promoting Windco.
Today you may find him in his office working at his computer, but more likely you will find him somewhere in the metro area erecting a flagpole, standing on ladder on car lot or
in a boom truck basket 50 to 60 feet in the air repairing a flagpole. |
 Beatrice WillisVice President and Comptroller. My introduction to the flag industry came as quite a shock. I often did a little sewing, for recreation and pleasure, but Marvin thought I did it well enough to make it a payable business. One day he came home with 3 large bags. In each one was a Newfoundland Flag 20 ft. by 40ft. to be repaired... Several thousands of dollars worth of flags and a $200.00 sewing machine. We lost money on that project because we immediately had to buy the only industrial sewing machine we could find in the city. But that was the start of our flag business. I did much of the sewing for several years until my work load became too great to be involved with more than one aspect of the business. Today I oversee all of the accounting of Windco. |

Willis-Churchill started working for Windco in 1995 as a trainee with little or no
knowledge of sewing or of this type of business. Today she is an exuberant seamstress.
When she is not leaping from one sewing machine to another, she is serving customers and
overseeing the total in house operation of the business. In Marvin's absence she adds
quoting custom flags and flagpoles to her long list of duties. |
