 Wind speed sensor
The Model 013
Wind Speed Sensor has been specifically designed to accurately and reliably measure wind
velocity under the most adverse environmental conditions.
Features
Accurate of 2%
Temperature operating range of -500C to +700C
Stainless steel ball bearings for greatest accuracy and operating
life
Starting threshold of 1.0 mph
Operation
The Model 013 is particularly useful in remote, unattended monitoring
applications where the sensor is likely to encounter high winds and heavy icing
conditions. The sensor has a range of 0-150 mph with and accuracy of 2% and a starting
threshold of 1.0 mph. A unique feature of the Model 013 is a build-in ice skirt which
allows sensor operation with a 2" ice load. The sensor is supplied with an extremely
robust aluminum cup assembly which has a distance constant of less than 15 feet.
Maximum operational reliability is ensured by the use of a sealed
magnetic reed switch which produces a series of contact closures at a rate proportional to
wind speed. The pulsed output of the sensor lends itself to applications involving both
digital and analog measurement systems. |

Wind Direction
Sensor
The Model 023 Wind
Direction Sensor is a rugged sensor that accurately and reliably measures wind direction
under the most adverse environmental conditions.
Features
Low starting threshold of 1.5 mph
Unique Meet One "Mechanical Average Sysem" reduces
sensor wear
Built in aligment and calibration fixture
Operates winds of 150 mph and ice loads of 2"
The Model 023 has been specifically designed for use in remote,
unattended monitoring applications where the sensor is likely to encounter high winds and
heavy icing conditions. The sensor has a starting threshold of 1.5 mph up to 150 mph.
Additionally, the sensor has a built-in ice shirt which allows operation with up to a
2" ice load.
The two part wind vane is connected by a unique ±100 slotted
shaft coupler to a precision wire wound potentiometer. The sensor output is an accurate
MECHANICAL AVERAGE of the wind direction. An additional benefit of the slotted shaft
coupler is decreased potentiomete wear and greatly increased sensor life. The Model 023
includes an orientation fixture which facilitates accurate field alignment. |

Kestrel 1000 Pocket Wind Meter
The Kestrel 1000 pocket wind meter is
very accurate, very tough and very affordable. It requires no setup - just hold it up to
measure wind speed whenever and wherever needed. It can track maximum and average wind
speeds along with current readings and allows you to choose measurement units to suit your
application - knots, meters per second, kilometers per hour, miles per hour, feet per
minute and Beaufort force can be selected at any time. The large liquid crystal display is
easy to read even in low light.
Performance
Operating Modes: Moving 3-second average, maximum 3-second
gust since power on (MAX) and average since power on (AVG).
Units: Knots (KT), meters per second (M/S), kilometers per
hour (KM/H), miles per hour (MPH), feet per minute (FPM) and Beaufort
force(".F").
On-Axis Accuracy: Greater of ±3% of reading or ±least
significant digit.
Off-Axis Response: -1%@ 5º, -2%@ 10º,-3%@ 15º
Minimum Speed: 0.3 M/S[~0.6 KT, 1KM/H, 0.7 MPH or 60 FPM].
Maximum Speed: 40M/S[~78 KT, 144 KM KM/H, 89 MPH or 1,990 FPM
